Russell L. Aldinger

Russell L. Aldinger, 85, of Alliance, passed away at 4:10 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Alliance Community Hospital. Russell was born June 23, 1921 in Canton, Ohio to Edwin and Lucy (Egan) Aldinger. He was a 1939 graduate of Randolph High School and in 1951 he received his Bachelors Degree and in 1955 his Masters Degree in Education from Kent State University. Mr. Aldinger worked for 31 years as a teacher and principal in Alliance and Malvern School districts. His career began as a teacher at Seneca Elementary School in Alliance where he met his future wife. He was a principal of Riverside and Franklin Elementary Schools in Alliance and Malvern Elementary School. Prior to beginning his career in education, Russell worked in different industries, including four years with Greyhound as a ticket agent and scheduler. Mr. Aldinger was a member of First Baptist Church of Alliance, Retired Teachers Association, life member of Ohio Education Association, National Education Association, American Association of Retired Persons, Friends of Rodman Library and past member of Malvern Rotary. He also volunteered at Animal Protection Guild. Survivors include his sons, David of Alliance and Alan of Mt. Lebanon, PA; granddaughter, Emily; grandson, Robert of Springfield, OH; brother, Leroy Aldinger of Fremont, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Aldinger was preceded in death by his parents; wife Frances Sumption Aldinger, whom he married Aug. 16, 1953 and who passed away July 31, 1991; and sister, Helen Stuckey. Friends may call at at Walton-Schrader Funeral Home on Friday, January 26, 2007, from 1:30 -2:30 p.m. Services will be held at at Walton-Schrader Funeral Home on Friday, January 26, 2007, at 2:30 p.m., with Pastor Gordon Thomas, officiating.
