Richard M. Odey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Richard M. Odey, 86, of Alliance, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on June 11, 1928 in Salem to Ralph E. and Irma B. (Hill) Odey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked for many years as a machinist at Alliance Machine Company. A member of Maximo Zion Church, Richard enjoyed antiquing, building furniture and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Bethel, whom he married on October 15, 1951; his children, Larry (Debbie) Odey, Gary (Darla) Odey, Sharon (Jon) Mattison and Jerry (Penny) Odey; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters, Florence Gibbs, Margie Catlos, Levine Sharp, Carol Madison and Gloria Kane. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Odey and Ralph Odey, Jr.; and sister, Janice Solomon. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at Maximo Zion Church with Pastor David Ashbrook and Richard’s grandson, Brian Odey, co-officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Walton-Schrader Funeral Home, 1131 W.
