Christopher D. Goshorn

Christopher D. Goshorn was born on November 1, 1981 in Canton, Ohio. He is survived by his parents Jonathan and Paula, as well as an older brother and sister, Jeff and Stacey. As a young child Chris enjoyed spending time with his grandparents, John and JoAnn Goshorn, Joan Elton, and the late William Elton. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother Clara Goshorn and step-uncle Richard McMillin Jr. He attended Northwood Elementary, North Canton Middle School and Hoover High. During these years, Chris made lifelong friendships with Cory, Alex and Tony. His interests included drawing, cars, computers, dirt bikes, paintballing, and taking care of his fish. Following his senior year, Chris took a trip to Myrtle Beach with some of his close friends. Shortly after, he joined the National Guard. Chris was a member of the 37th Armored Brigade/38th Infantry. He received his basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Chris acquired his formal military training at Fort Gordon, Georgia. During his training, he formed a close friendship with his battle buddy, Kurt. He enjoyed going away with the National Guard and always returned with many interesting stories to share with his family and friends. Also, Chris loved to try new things. For instance, he immediately took up on an offer to ride in any army Huey helicopter for the thrill and experience. In the fall of 2001, Chris furthered his education by going to Kent State University. He majored in Computer Science. Someday, he hoped to begin a career in computer animation, a combination of both of his strongest interests. Also at this time, Chris joined Firestone Road Baptist Church, from the encouragement of his close friend, Cory. He attended the church’s youth group on a regular basis. He made many more friendships here and began a serious relationship with his girlfriend, Amber. Although Chris’ life ended before he had achieved his goals, he accomplished much. Through the memories carried by his family and friends he will always be with us. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 11 at Firestone Road Baptist Church, with Pastor John Marshall officiating. Friends may call at Walton-Schrader Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 10 from 2-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church.
