Debra K. Hume

Debra K. Hume (Lott) age 69, passed away on September 24, 2013. She was born August 2, 1944, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Harry Moore and Ardath Gay (Creath) Hume. She lived in the North Canton and Alliance area all of her life, except for four years, when she resided in California where her two children were born. She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1963 and retired in 2004 from the Columbiana County Department of Job and Family Services after more than 28 years of service. She also worked at the Stark County Department of Job and Family Services. She was a member of the Beechwood United Methodist Church, Beechwood Pioneers, and the Great Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Debbie enjoyed cooking and baking, entertaining, dining out with family and friends, reading, sewing, traveling, shopping and bird watching. After retirement Debbie enjoyed traveling with her family, friends and church family. She enjoyed the Women of Faith Conferences and attended several of those. Debbie was always there for everyone who needed her. She always remembered birthday and special occasions. The most important things in her life were her family, friends and her faith. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Janet L. (Brown) North. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Ray Sponseller; son, R. Shane Lott; beloved grandson, Vince Sponseller; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Susan Hume and brother-in-law David R. North, all of Alliance. She also leaves behind her nephews and nieces, Ken and Goldie North, Tod and Pam North, Steve and Lynette North, Jill Lancia, and Kay Brom; great-nieces and great nephews, Nick Lancia, Danielle Smith, Mike Lancia, Lexi Lancia, Tara North, Corey North, Keaten North, Morgan North, Nikki North, Janeau Brom, Rachelle Brom, Tyler North, Rick Nicholas and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She also leaves behind many friends and special people that were important to her life. Celebrate because she is now with her heavenly Father and watching over all of her family and friends. There will be no calling hours or funeral services. Footprints in the Sand One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there were one set of footprints. This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints. So I said to the Lord, “You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there have only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?” The Lord replied, “The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand, is when I carried you”-Mary Stevenson
